Anonymous asked: gud 2 c you have grown out of your japanese/weaboo phase gives me hope the rest of ur kind will follow
I think I know what you are getting at but not everyone who likes manga/anime is a “weeaboo”.
A weeaboo is typically someone whose idea of Japan is entirely based on pop culture (anime, manga, maybe some video games) and who wants to “be Japanese” based on those concepts. These are usually the creepy kids who wear “I want a Japanese boyfriend” and/or “I <3 Yaoi” t-shirts. They throw Japanese words into their speech even though there is a perfectly acceptable alternative in their native language (we’ve all met some moron who says “baka” and “kawaii” in the middle of their non-Japanese sentences). They are bizarrely infatuated with anything/everything anime/manga in that they will buy/read/watch whatever they stumble upon (and it’s not just in boredom). They often have an obsession with Japanese food but all they know about are bento boxes, sushi, and chicken teriyaki. They want Japanese friends, boyfriends, and girlfriends. Etc etc etc…
In general, a weeaboo fetishes Japanese culture and they do it through anime & manga. I feel like it’s actually bizarrely related to racism somehow but I don’t know how. An anecdote: I have been to Japan twice, and the second time I went, I lived there for a time and went to a university there to study primarily religion. I mentioned this on here some time ago, or perhaps someone just found me mentioning it on NF, but one day I got an anon message with the general content of: “You went to Japan to study stupid shit you could study at home. The school should have paid for someone who actually appreciated Japan to go to an anime school.” I admit I am paraphrasing slightly because the person who sent it had atrocious grammar and punctuation, but that was the general gist of it. Most likely sent by a weeaboo who saw Japan as the Glorious Capital of Lolicon and Mecha or some bullshit like that.
I’m not criticizing someone who wants to go to Japan to study art (because I guess that’s what this person meant? Lol I still don’t know what an anime school is, exactly). Good for them and good luck. It’s a great country to spend some time in. But the country is so much more than anime/manga and I feel like the stereotypical weeaboo can’t see around that. If that’s simply what you’re most interested in, that’s fine, but don’t glorify and fetishize an entire country and culture because of one aspect of it.
That said, not all people who like anime/manga are weeaboos. There are plenty of people who like anime and manga just as there are plenty of people who like American cartoons and comics. I wouldn’t say they are all…United-States-obsessed weeaboos. It’s just a preference. Manga & anime are fundamentally different from Western cartoons and comics in many ways and some people simply like them more. Though I will admit that I think a lot of people who like anime & manga did go through a weeaboo phase at one point.
As for me, I’m just generally fading out of the fandom lifestyle. I like Madara as intensely as I did years ago, but I am not going into another fandom after this one. It’s not just anime/manga. It’s also comics, fandom-potent books, video games…I was never into Western TV or movies but I can include those in the mix, as well so you get a better idea. I would, however, still love to go to Japan again, for reasons entirely unrelated to fandom.
But anon’s typing style seems like a poor disguise. Who iiiiiiisssssssss iiiiiiiitttttttttttttt??????????
thetokgirl asked: (So I spent ten minutes trying to reduce my reply's wordcount to use the 'reply' feature but that failed.) But taijutsu just works on everybody, kicks and punches are universal. It makes sense that ninjutsu wouldn't affect him now that he's the vassal of the creature chakra came from, but taijust just comes from muscle strength. Normally they wouldn't even consider it as a strategy against Madara, but the wiki page for the 8 gates clearly explains that they aren't just normal physical attacks.
How does any of that matter when IT IS STATED IN THE FUCKING MANGA that you can only fight the natural energy of the juubi jinn with more natural energy, aka senjutsu?
Oh whatever, I’m sure Kishi will give us some shit next week about how 8 Gates is really moar senjutsu. He’s retconning the hell out of everything now so why not.
Anonymous asked: ...why does it need to have a banner made? :P
Because I want a banner.
Anonymous asked: Are you still running the HashiMada contest?...
Yes but I have to find someone who can make a pretty banner and I don’t feel like asking around right now.
Am I the only person who doesn’t like modern AUs, or AUs outside of Narutoverse at all?
Uh yea when he was an Edo Tensei.
Juubi Jinnchuuriki have very specific weaknesses. It was STATED MULTIPLE TIMES that only senjutsu/natural energy could harm a juubi jinnchuuriki.
What Madara used to be weak against when he was…dead is entirely irrelevant. And even if it was relevant, how the fuck would Minato know about it? He wouldn’t.
Kishi just retconned a second weakness onto juubi jinns because a) he has no clue what to do with Madara and b) he wants to give Gai something to do.
Doodling sleeping madara because i want to sleep and he is super cute.
